Hair loss after hair transplant

Hair loss after hair transplant is an automatic occurring procedure in which your non transplanted hair falls after having a transplant. This shock loss usually happens between the second and eighth week after a transplant, when the ones have to enter, a resting phase sets into this type of shedding. This is a perfectly natural, normal and much experienced process by those who apply the transplant and is nothing to worry about. Your new, healthy ones will soon begin to grow in their place, making you comfortable and look good again. Shock loss is basically where there is a loss of natural hair from the donor area or after a restoration. This is not particular for any one method because we have seen it in a donor area in both FUT and FUE procedures. Usually, it does occur more commonly in the recipient area.

Reason behind Shock Loss:

Hair loss after transplant is due to many reasons. As they go through a cycle of growth and falling made up of the anagen, catagen and telogen phases. This process, unlike the growth cycles of other mammals, is totally random, and a different number of hairs can be in any one of these phases at any moment. Some of the reasons are mentioned below.

1. Shock loss:

A transplant is traumatic on the outer skull and on the surrounding hairs. New and exciting ones can temporarily fall which is called shock loss. This occurs between 2-8 weeks after going through the transplant procedure. And within a short period, new will eventually grow back again.

2. Inexperienced or negligence of doctor:

Since there are many transplant clinics, many do not come with the facility of good quality and experience. Many of them end up extracting from non-permanent zones to place in the recipient area, which finally gives you bad outcomes and loss. So choosing a good surgeon is very necessary.

3. Graft Refusing:

The recipient area might refuse the donor grafts at all. In this case, the person’s immune system can refuse the grafts and can damage the transplanted tissue completely.

Prevention of Loss after Transplant:

Hair loss after transplant can be reduced by applying following measures.

1. Medication:

Many doctors prescribe minoxidil (Rogaine) or another growth medication finasteride (Propecia) to improve the regrowth. These medicines also help to slow or stop the fall. Patients may approach cosmetic products being used as medicines which can disguise shedding and thinning physically. These products cover up bald areas by adding in a density and do incorporate in building of fibers for complete coverage and thickness. It also hides the spots on the scalp.

 2. Choosing a best time for transplant:

Usually people make mistakes in choosing the right time to have a hair transplant. They want it to be done at a very young age if they see any bald corner at their head, which leads to thinning and distortion in the lining of natural hair. Also it may not contribute to distribution of donors evenly. Thus, it is also vital for a doctor to determine a suitable number of grafts necessary for the bald area to be treated and in an available donor area.

Shock Shedding Regrowth:

Hair loss after transplant can be either permanent or temporary. Your hair will grow normally after a temporary one.  In nearly all cases, the loss is temporary and will lead to growth back of volume again. Most patients report initial regrowth between 3-6 months. It may take 12-18 to get mature and homogeneously indulged into the previously normal thickness and texture.
